This Saturday my wife, my daughter and I attended 4:00 Mass at our parish. This is not the mass we regularly attend but we do know some of the people at this Mass. I was asked to be an eucharistic minister by the deacon because it did no look like enough of the scheduled people were in attendance. While distributing communion I had an epiphany as the members of the congregation were coming to receive the Body of Christ. As the parishioners approached me I realized reflecting back to me was the image of Christ in all their faces.
Prayer to Know Jesus Christ
O Lord Jesus, like Saint Paul, may I count everything as loss in comparison with the supreme advantage of knowing you. I want to know you and what your passion and resurrection can do. I also want to share in your sufferings in the hope that if I resemble you in death I may somehow attain to the resurrection from the dead. Give me grace to make every effort to supplement faith with moral courage, knowledge with self-control, self-control with patience, patience with piety, piety with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. May these virtues keep me both active and fruitful and bring me to the deep knowledge of you, Lord Jesus Christ. Amen
Prayer for strong faith to Saint Joseph
Happy, blissful St. Joseph,
heir of the faith of all the patriarchs,
obtain for me this beautiful and precious virtue: increase in me a lively faith,
the foundation of all sanctity,
that faith without which no one can be pleasing to God.
Obtain for me that faith
which triumphs over all temptations of the world and conquers human respect;
which can be shaken by nothing,
and is directed solely towards God.
Cause me after your example to live by faith, to subject my heart and understanding to God, that once I may behold in heaven what I now firmly believe on earth.
As I sit here waiting to have my hair cut, I think to myself that instead of sitting here and getting annoyed because I have to wait, why not take the opportunity to pray. So off I go to have some time with my Lord.
Spare time is prayer time. Just thought of that it’s probably not an original thought but it sounds good.
And Jesus *answered saying to them, “Have faith in God. Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him. Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you. (Mark 11:22-24 NASB)
